Sector Assessments Shine Light on Expansion of Intelligent Automation Space

As technologies that can be applied to process automation continue to proliferate, platforms that can integrate the growing number of tools and capabilities involved are becoming increasingly important for businesses. Those platforms must incorporate existing automation technologies including RPA, IDP and certain AI-based functionality along with more advanced agentic AI and agentic orchestration capabilities.

Growth in the number of providers offering intelligent process automation platforms (IPAP) is reflected in the number of companies evaluated by Everest Group in this year’s PEAK Matrix reports ($) on the sector. The consultancy has assessed 26 providers this year and broke out the 15 it considers “full suite” providers into a separate evaluation. Appian, Microsoft, Pega and UiPath topped the list of full-suite platform providers.

The assessment ranked the companies that are aiming to become one-stop shops for all automation-related enterprise requirements. It evaluated those firms on two axes—“market impact” and “vision and capability”—and separated them according to their position on the matrix into “aspirants,” “major contenders” and “leaders.”

In addition to the “leaders,” technology providers evaluated by Everest Group for the report include: AuraQuantic,  Automation Anywhere, EdgeVerve, IBM, Laiye, Nintex, Nividous, SAP, ServiceNow, SS&C Blue Prism and Tungsten Automation.

While Everest Group sells a version of the report on its website that includes a full market and trend analysis, the graphs showing the relative positions of the companies included in both the IPAP and the Full Suite IPAP evaluations are publicly available.
